  1. I sided my house a very light sage green. At first I took the stock dark green shutter, but never liked them. I ended up painting my shutters a shade of sage green just a hint darker than the house. I did the door purple, but it wasn't the right shade so I ended up painting the door the same as the shutters. The house was small and it looked bigger when I was done. I had a lot of white trim and a portico so in the end the house looked beautiful. I just voted for the person that said another shade of sage, but I needed to add my 2 cents.

  2.   I would use a different shade of green, a few shades lighter or darker.

  3. I guess I'd want to know about the style of your house, the roof color and what direction it faces...city, suburban or country? Historic feel, formal, farm house? All of these questions will help you to make your decision. Is the door behind a screen door or under a porch? If so, you'll want to pump up the color a bit to make it seen from the street. That's the vista which really counts is how it looks from 25 or more feet back. What seems like a nice dark green looks like black from the street. The direction your door faces will also influence your color choice...north facing light is cool and perhaps you will want to choose a warmer tone if that is the case.

  4. A nice deep, rich navy would look very classic.

Try Benjamin Moore's Personal Color Viewer to test out different options but remember that the colors as they appear on your screen are not accurate - they are to get an idea of what it might look like.  Good Luck!

  5. A darker sage or reddish persimmon color if you are into Feng Stuff.
