We are still a quality side, claims http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447 – Cricket News Update
Having finished the on-going Champions League T20 2012 on a winning note by beating the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Titans-c856, Gautam Gambhir, the Kolkata Knight Rider’s (KKR’s) skipper, is disappointed that his side failed to progress in the tournament
but still has complete faith on the team.
KKR, after winning the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), were rated amongst the pre-tournament favourites of the CLT20 this year. Gambhir’s men however, failed to live up to the expectations, managing just
one victory in their four matches, including a washout.
The IPL Champions came out with a positive intent last night against the Titans, posting a mammoth total of 188 runs on the board for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to superb cameos by Gambhir
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Debabrata-Das-c1353, scoring 44 and 43 respectively.
With the ball in hand, KKR came out with all guns blazing, bowling out the Titans for merely 89 runs, courtesy a special performance by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lakshmipathy-Balaji-c72130, who picked up four wickets, helping his side win the fixture by
a massive margin of 99 runs.
Despite failing to qualify for the semi-finals of the glamorous competition, Gambhir, feels that he has some brilliant cricketers in his ranks, having the potential to deliver the goods in future. The left-hander is delighted
after a comprehensive victory against Titans, who were undefeated in the tournament prior to this game.
"I still feel we are a quality side, we put this performance on the field today. When you get 180 in these conditions, you know you have the bowling to defend," said the left-handed opener.
For scoring an outstanding 19-ball 43, Das was named as the Player of the Match, having given impetus to the KKR innings in the death overs. The right-hander struck half a dozen boundaries and a couple of massive hits out of the
park.
Upon receiving the award during the post-match presentation ceremony, the hard-hitting right-hander revealed that he was given the license by the team management to go after the bowling.
Das mentioned, "We started well. I was told to just go out, and play your game."
