We are struggling because of poor fielding, says Kumar Sangakkara – Cricket News Update
Captain of Deccan Chargers, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KC-Sangakkara-c1779, is extremely disappointed with his team’s showings in the on-going fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and admitted that poor fielding has been one of the major causes behind his side’s downfall.
Chargers have always been a major force in the tournament as they won the second season of the illustrious league in 2009, which was held in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. However, the franchise has miserably failed to make an impression this year.
The cricket analysts have criticized the team for its lack of intensity and effort. Deccan has lost a number of close encounters, which goes to show that the team has failed to cope with the pressure in crunch situations.
The worst thing about Deccan has been its fielding as it has dropped numerous catches in the tournament. In a fixture against Delhi Daredevils earlier in the event, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 was given a couple of chances by the Chargers and the dashing right-handed
batsman made sure that he takes the game away from the opposition.
Like a true sportsman, Sangakkara admits that his fielders have let the team down.
“I think one of the most disappointing aspects of the season has been our catching in the field. I think there were a lot of catches [dropped] in matches that we should have won; that’s cost us a few games,” former Sri Lankan captain confessed.
Deccan made a few changes in the team for this year and bought new players in the auction. However, the plan has not worked for the franchise. Sangakkara expressed that Pietersen and medium-fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harmeet-Singh-c1533 are dearly missed in the fifth season
as both these players were bought by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 respectively for this season.
“We’ve lost KP, and KP is a big cricketer. So is Harmeet. He has done a wonderful job for Deccan and he is very useful on selected tracks. Unfortunately, those are decisions that have been made, but we have enough quality in the side to win,” he added.
It is likely that the Chargers will make some changes for the next season as the current combination has failed to deliver the goods.
