We are thinking about a FAMILY beach trip to Florida (no Disneyworld stuff) - any ideas?

We want to have a family beach trip to Florida. We dont want to do Disneyworld, etc. our children are too young for that yet. But we want to go sit on a beach and relax. Any ideas for a non-party spring break type beach that is full of family fun - and well, if its not wickedly expensive that would be fantastic too! Thanks for all the advice in advance!

I would pick somewhere on the west coast of Florida, perhaps Ft. Myers or nearby.  The weather on the west coast is a bit less windy and you can enjoy the beautiful sunsets.  Also, you have Sanibel island nearby, a great place to go looking for sea shells.  Don't stay on the island, too expensive, but there are a lot of hotels / motels nearby that you could enjoy.  Also: spring break parties are more on the east coast!
