  1. Dorchester is a little bit 'the middle of nowhere' esp. if you've lived closer to London.   I'd take a day trip to Bournemouth if I was you. Just a thought.

  2. Dorchester is a delightful town with many fine old buildings, parks, good shopping etc. Dorset is a beautiful county and you won't be far from the coast and some of the finest beaches in the UK.

I've been to Romford and found the place soulless. Too much planning in the 60s blighted it.

Your children will soon make new friends and your husband can search the jobs in Dorchester either online or at the job centre.

  3. Move to Dorchester!  My family and I have been there many times, partly because my brother-in-law owned a cottage there, but also we have stayed in hotels there.  That sounds like just holiday thoughts, but in fact we investigated schools, etc because we had two young children at the time, and we found that the place was pretty outstanding from all angles.  I would certainly choose Dorchester over Romford (but that has NOTHING to do with Essex).  The job situation is not too bad at all, even if you can't actually find work specifically in Dorchester.  Local work is easily found.  I know you will have to do more research, but this is advice from somebody who is a tad above an amateur.  Good luck.  It is a beautiful part of England.

  4. The only person who can answer that question is you, I'm afraid.

I've never been to either place but as they say - "the grass is always greener on the other side"

You'll never know if you don't try, better to regret the things you do than the things you don't do...

    etc...

    good luck.

  5. Dorchester is probably more relaxed, less crowded and crime-blighted, and if I had kids, I would want them living there rather than Romford.  You can say 'What if?' and think about all the BAD things that could happen, or you could strike out, best foot forward, and make the GOOD things happen.  All the best with your dream!

  6. If you don't do it you will be forever worrying about 'what if', its a big risk, but it should have a big pay-out at the end!  I'd say go for it, and yeah, it could go terribly wrong and you'd end up in debt, but what if it all goes well?

  7. Dorchester is a gorgeous town, and life is a big gamble.Go for it!!!
