There is definetly a nice little childcare centre if you have children.. The people in margate are certainly very friendly like most Tasmanians willing to give you a hand and welcoming of new people to the area....Margate is a wonderful place to live if you are wanting the quieter side of life but not too far away from the city ...

Its a semi-rural area about  20-30 minutes drive to central Hobart and about 10 minutes from Kingston. It has become a poplar area from people who want to live on a larger block of land, many/most have water views.

Main shopping is in Kingston and not a lot of local work options (Aust Antarctic Expedition excepted)  people commute to work in Hobart

There is a collection of antique outlets at the Margate Train which is a popular stop
