  1. I'd say, in U.S. dollars:

$8.00 for breakfast, or $4. for just coffee.

$15.00 for lunch, but you can guy Baguettes with all kinds of beautiful toppings and crepes on the streets, and picnic in the park from the Monoprix and get by for $5.

Dinner is $$$..perhaps you can look for an interesting ethnic restaurant and forego the alcohol if money is tight.  If not, the sky is the limit, but at least $20.

  2. Of what I know of years ago is: avoid drinking Cola &beers=expensive, instead drink the local wine.

Dine in the mountains era instead of on the coast.

France you can make it expensive or cheap depends where you spend it.

  3. Ohhhhhuuu... I envy you.  When I first retired from the gubbernment in 1984 I lived on a boat in the yacht basin, just behind the lighthouse, for 2 years... LOVED Marseilles...

You are going to be in for a shock.  The dollar is in bad shape... it takes about $1.36 to buy an Euro... then there is the fee the Cambio's charge on top of that.

If you are staying in a Hotel, then you should get a continental breakfast as part of your room rent... I would advise you to eat it and save the money for lunch and dinner.

Lunch is the cheapest meal you can eat... just check the menu's which are posted outside every cafe... A fixed price menu for Lunch should not be more than the equivalent of $10 USD.  But, for dinner you can double that or triple it, depending on how many Michelin stars the restaurant has.

You can get by on $50 USD equivalent per person per day and still eat pretty well... just don't go during August because that is when the rest of France comes to the Azure coast and the prices go through the roof.
