We are trying to take in 3 little girls, rather than tthem going into care, How long do The Police Check take?

We have given Social Services all our details and are just wondering how long this will take?

This refers to England.

I have been in exactly the same position as you,Much of it depends on where you live.

Were you born in the same town as where you live.

Have you lived anywhere other than this  for eg forces

Ive had several police checks for various reasons over the past seven years or so, Social services, voluntary work, committee work with a mental health charity.

I was born on the west coast and live on the east coast now, here in the UK and the checks took around eight weeks for social services but they tend to be kind of slow at gettting their finger out and actually send off for the check.

The charity check was six weeks from filling in the form and receiving a copy of the certificate.

Just as an extra, YOU are entitled to a copy of the certificate, although the s s dont give you one. the charity did send me it after photocopying it for their records.

I am in Florida so I am not sure if it is the same but when we did our back round check and fingers prints and all that stuff it took 6 weeks to get them back
