We would like to Find an off the beaten path non chain restaurants to enjoy. We are not fancy people by any means. (no quail b*****s with boysenberry demiglase and fennel reduction) We love our buffalo wings, onion rings and other "pub grub" also like Mexican (used to love Que Pasa" on Flamingo) or maybe indian and Italian, or a great pizza place. we will have a car rental so can be pretty flexable.

  1. My husband and I live in Las Vegas and our favorite restaurant is called CASA DI AMORE. (it's located on Tropicana Av. east of Eastern Av.) It's Italian American food and it is absolutely delicioso! My husband can't stand chain restaraurants, so this place is perfect for him. (He loves the lasagna and I like the chicken caprisi.)

This place is decorated with vintage pictures of las vegas, and has a mob type of feel. It's nice, but not super fine dining. I also like the live music (Chello and keyboard) after 7 pm.

  2. You've got to try  Bauttistas Hole in the wall Italian Restaurant....off the strip on Flamingo...if you're looking at Bills Gambling Hall, it's behind it. The food is fantastic...huge portions and free wine! My husband and I were married in Vegas, had our wedding dinner there and went back for our one year anniversary. The last time we were there we started with the red wine, then moved on to the white....they even serve free coffee after....it's so yummy!

  3. Dona Maria's Tamales on West Cheyenne and Tenaya has the best Mexican in town! For Italian we love Fellini's on West Charleston.  If you look around when you get there, you might get a glimpse of an old don or two drinking espresso in the bar.

  4. Batista's has some of the worst Italian food I've ever had.  I'm from Philadelphia though, so maybe my standards are too high.  There are several Baja Fresh restaurants in town.  I had an excellent steak at Ruth's Chris a couple of weeks ago.

  5. I can highly recommend stopping at the "Bay City Diner" down on Fremont Street at the far Southwest Corner underthe Fremont Street Experience.

The setting is in that of an Old Time Luncheon Counter or Diner and the food is EXCELLENT.

I prefer the Prime Rib and SHrimp Cocktail along with the Raspberry Pie, However; you can get the wings and onion rings and even some delicious Italian cuisine.

All at a great price. Give it a chance and stay for the light show at night.

Have a great trip and sample all the food you can :)

  6. downtown vegas is cool. they have real fod. go during the day time

  7. Casa Di Amore is good for Italian, and they're open from afternoons to early morning.

Another good Italian place is Carluccio's Tivoli Gardens

(1775 E Tropicana Ave, at Spencer).

For Mexican, I really like Viva Mercado's, at Rainbow and Spring Mountain.

I haven't been too impressed by most of the Indian restaurants I have been to around Las Vegas.

I would suggest trying  Himalayan Cuisine (730 E Flamingo, near Swenson). http://www.himalayancuisine.com/  The food is delicious!

    Have fun!

  8. I know you are looking for a place "off the beaten path", but even though it is on the Strip, try the Monte Carlo Pub and Brewery (assuming it has reopened since the fire).

The place gets pretty crowded, so have some patience, and the food is basically pub-grub, but good quality.  I had an excellent club sandwich when I was there and my friend had a burrito that looked REALLY tasty.

Also, it isn't open on Monday or Tuesday.
