If a day has always been 48 hours long, would we still go to sleep at the same time we do?

Seen as humans only went to bed because it was dark and they felt relaxed, if it staed brighte for longer, would we stay awake longer? Or do humans need 8 hours sleep every 24 hours and its just a coincidence tha our sleeping patters fit in with the sun?

  1. The human body is very flexible to its surroundings. Normally we sleep 8 hours a day and usually at night. But depending on the environment, our body adjusts. At start, we might stay awake longer but eventually once our circadian rhythm adjusted to our environment, we should be able to sleep normally. One of the ways to achieve this is to sleep in a dark room. Curtains and blinds will play a vital role here.
