We bought a car 8 days ago and it's leaking...?

It's either oil or suspension fluid that it's leaking.

The garage is going to fix it for us free, but does this mean we've bought a sh*t car?

It's a 52 Hyundai Accent, 1.5 diesel.

I'm worried we've just oart exchanged an unreliable car for another unreliable car.

Its just a leak no big deal, it could be worst. These are good cars, let them fix it for free and enjoy your car, are cars have some type of leaking or something wrong with them, dont worry about it you have a good car.

okay there is no such thing as suspension fluid it either engine oil gearbox oil or power steering fluid either way unless its a rocker cover seal it will be up to $1000 to fix a car with leaky oil is unroadworthy and if you had one done a week ago id take it back to the mechanic its ben bodged up

no, this might be the only fault you ever see on the car.

Worry after 50 faults and 5 years. Don't worry over something that hasn't happened.

Hyundai, while not my choice, are supposed to be good cars.

No, it doesn't necessarily mean that you've bought a bad car. But as a general rule it's best to have a mechanic check out a car before you make a purchase. While it's in the shop, have the mechanic check out the basics...engine, transmission, suspension, gauges, seatbelts, basically just give it a bumper to bumper check. Make sure it's full of all of it's fluids, i.e. oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, grease in all of the bushings/ball joints, differential, etc... it'd be better to know what else is wrong now much less getting it on the road and have a breakdown. a car can pass its MOT on a monday and fail on a tuesday...it even exsplaines this on the mot sheet...
