We brought home a kitten today and can't find it, will it come back?

She's a 12-week-old kitten, and today we brought her home. She seemed to adapt fairly quickly and we managed to potty train her and feed her. She even sat on my brother's lap for an hour or so whilst he watched TV. At dinner she roamed around the house a bit, but she knows she's not allowed upstairs. After dinner we couldn't find her! She usually likes to hide in corners but we always manage to find her. The top window in the shower-room was left open, there's a ledge and i reckon she could've easily jumped out! We've searched everywhere in the house and the garden, i even walked down the hill where i live, to check everyone's front gardens! I'm so worried, i don't know if she'll come back! Her previous owner says she's done this before because she's mischeivious and likes to explore, but i'm having my doubts. We've only had her for about 5 hours! Will she come back?

  1. it will come back. Its probably just hiding! kittens will cry out as well. lol

  2. If she got outside it's not very likely, since you've only had her for a short period of time. When she gets hungry she might be able to find her way back though. If she's still in the house than definitely. We just got two barn kittens from my neighbor. They can hide in everything. There's been a couple times I was worried sick, and thought they had gotten outside. And then they just walk up to you like, hey whats up. She's probably scared in her new environment and just went to go check things out for a bit. I'm sure she'll come back. :]

  3. How did she know she's not allowed upstairs if you have had just five hours?

I hope She is safe and that you find her.

  4. I was having some work done in my house and my cat went missing.  I wanted to find her before the last of the floorboards went back down.  After searching for hours, I found her behind the freezer (a place she had never been before).  She is an adult cat and I was surprised it took so long to find her.  Go into each room closing the door behind you.  Search from top to bottom looking in the most unlikeliness of places.  She is still small, so can squeeze into the smallest space.  Good luck.

  5. hi, i bet shes in the house hiding behind something, just look behind everything, and in cupboards shoes, handbags anything.

  6. probably not she doesn't no where her home is if you have only just got her sorry. But there is a chance she will :D

  7. i think the chances of her coming back could be quite slim but as she is young she may wonder into someone else's garden or house so i would put up posters in your area and still leave food out for her maybe at the same windo she may have sneaked out of or on your front porch sorry to hear ur kitty and got out good luck

  8. Have you got a box or bag of crunchie food?  Shake the heck out of it and see if that brings her out of hiding.  She has probably found a nice little hidey spot and is making herself at home.

You might try a walk around the area too.  If you don't find her by nightfall, then start putting up posters etc in the am.

Oh, and put a bell on her when you find her!!

  9. well close the windows and put out some food and milk or whatever she likes on the doorstep and have a d**n good look through the house again, if youre absolutely certain shes not there then search as hard as you can outside, if still no sign and she doesnt come back after a couple of days try some posters.

  10. Did you put a collar with a bell on it on her? Did you play with any toys with her. The kinds that have a bell or ringing type sound could be used to jangle and try to get her attention. She has a good sense of hearing. I am hoping that as soon as this question is done, that you'll have your kitty back. Call her by name, ring the bell toy and make sure there is a door that she can come to...

    Poor kitty :(

  11. if you say she adapted quickly, she might. if not, check the house of her previous owner, she might have gone back there (something to do with instinct).

  12. doubt it, it might if you have already fed it at least once

  13. I bet she's taking a nap somewhere.  Cats are very sneaky and will hide to sleep anywhere, especially if she just ate.  Just be patient.

  14. she might have went back to her previous owner

  15. She's probably taking a nap in a secret spot you haven't discovered. I've been through this a dozen times. Give her time and I'll bet she'll crawl out of some unknown spot in the next five hours. : )

  16. i lost my 6 week old kitten  i checked every where  in the vents even outside under the couch  i cried because i thought id lost him..  we found him an hour later in the bottom of my tall laundry hamper  He'd climbed up the side and fallen almost to the bottom.  I am sure h**l turn up. ive had cats (mostly a bit older) leave for days at a time then come home... but since you kitten is so small maybe you should put out   lost kitten posters  maybe someone picked up the little guy..

  17. cats are very smart. mine has ran away more than 25 times! he always comes back. he knows his way home and at some times he will be gone for up to 3-7 days. but he always comes back!

  18. If you think she got outside, look under your bushes, under the car, under the porch, and places like that. Cats like hiding under objects like these. If you don't find her today, leave some food and water outside.

She could still be in the house. You might want to look in places such as behind or on top of book shelves. Cats like climbing on high places.

If you can't find her inside or outside your home, post some missing adds around your area.

    I hope you find her.

    Good luck!

  19. I'm wondering after only having her for 5 hours how she knew she was not allowed upstairs, when she gets hungary she will show up.
