We spent a lot of money on a privacy fence the neighbor asked if he could build off from it. We told him we spent a lot on it and weren't gonna just give it to him in other words for a price and put an agreement on paper too. My concern is how that would affect the decision of a future home buyer for our property and if at all that lowers our value.

  1. you have to be more specific on what you mean by build off of it.  do you mean he wants to continue the fence on his property?  or build something there in its place?  or something next to it?

a definition of build off of it please

  2. I REALLY doubt it will affect the decisions of any future homebuyers or lower your home's value. It would look a lot worse if he built a second fence next to yours rather than tying in.  If your fence is right on the property line, he can build his up to but not touching yours without permission.

  3. Not at all.  The fence is still encircling your yard, now if new owners ever wanted to take it down it might pose a problem, but why would they?  And in that case they could tear down the rest of the fence and consider the side left up their neighbors.  It wouldn't make any sense for the neighbor to build a new fence just a couple inches from yours.  The privacy fence increased the value of your house, your neighbor's fence isn't going to change that.
