We can be even stronger, says Sporting Lisbon coach Domingos Paciência – Primeira Liga News

Sporting Lisbon coach, Domingos Paciência, claims that his side can become even more stronger. The Lions crushed Gil Vicente 6-1 yesterday but the tactician reiterates that they can do even better than this.
Domingos Paciência’s men took on Gil http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vicente-c36001 at Estadio Jose Alvalade yesterday in their Liga Sagres fixture and emerged with three points after completely annihilating their opponents at home.
The hosts were absolutely ruthless and took the lead inside 7 minutes, when http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Carriço-c9926 headed in the first of the game.  Although Sporting pressed to extend their lead, they were futile in their efforts and going into the break were still only one up.
While the first 45 minutes had been entertaining, the second half was something which no one expected.
In-form striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joao-Pereira-c18664 cross.
While the match was put beyond doubt, the Sportinguistas added more gloss to the score line when Diego Capel found the back of the net from close range after the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gil-c14870 Vicente goalkeeper failed to clear Andre Carrillo’s vicious shot.
The visitors also netted a consolation but it mattered little as the Lisbon outfit replied with two more from a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valeri-Bojinov-c35853 brace.
With the three points, Sporting were able to secure 3rd place in the Primeira Liga standings but manager, Domingos Paciência, claims that his side can even better Monday’s emphatic result.
Speaking to reporters, the trainer said that with the kind of players at the helm, the club are a strong team but can further improve and become an even better side.
"We are all aware that we can achieve even more, which is a very big responsibility. If there are any distractions, it will not happen. I know they are my best players ever and their ambition is to win every game. We're strong but we can be even stronger.”
The coach also said that his aim was to make Sporting the toughest of adversaries and if they can maintain their current form, they will certainly be able to achieve that.
“Our goal is to make Sporting a more difficult adversary. We think we can repeat the good times of today [playing with Gil Vicente]. If we maintain this level and quality, we can lead the pack and fight with our rivals,” he said.
With one of the most talented squads in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984, Sporting Lisbon have been labelled as title contenders and the kind of performances they have displayed in recent times only reiterates that point.
Now the only thing they have to do to stake their claim in silverware, is gain victories over their arch-rivals, Benfica and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186.
