FC Porto's Lucho Gonzalez claims that his side have the quality to beat English Premier League giants Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
The Portistas worked their socks off in the first-leg at Estadio do Dragao but their efforts were undone by an http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-c33030 Aguero tap-in.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436 in particular looked lively, as he set up Silvestre Varela’s goal and was generally a menace throughout the ninety minutes.
While the Citizens took a narrow lead back to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, they still haven’t confirmed their progression, as a scintillating 2nd leg awaits.
Obviously by playing at home, the Premier League outfit are favourites to come out as winners, but considering how dangerous Porto looked in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984, the Blues may have a trick task ahead of them.
Lucho Gonzalez, who re-signed for the Dragons after falling out of favour at Marseille, has claimed that his side have the necessary talents to curb the threat of their opponents and make it to the latter stages of Europe’s 2nd tier competition.
Speaking to reporters, the Argentine said that the team were not pleased with the result at home but could beat their English rivals in their own backyard.
"Obviously, it's not positive when you lose at home in a two-legged tie, but we have what it takes to travel to Manchester and beat them.”
He also added that the hosts had several world-class players in their ranks, which would punish them if they made any errors during the game, so they would have to retain their composure and focus on the match from start to finish.
"All of City's players have loads of quality, so that means you have to remain focused for the entire game - otherwise they'll make you pay for your mistakes.”
Lastly, he claimed that the first half at the Dragao was a great example of Porto’s quality and they would have to emulate that in order to secure progression to the next round.
"We need to play for 90 minutes like we did in the first half (at the Estadio do Dragao). It's the only way to beat a team like Manchester City,” Lucho Gonzalez was quoted as saying.
