The Borussia Dortmund sporting director is confident that his side will progress to the next round in the UEFA Champions League despite being in the ‘Group of Death’.
Borussia Dortmund have been drawn in the toughest group of the UEFA Champions League with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester City and Ajax Amsterdam. The team will play their first game at home against the Dutch champions next
week.
The Black Yellows could not progress to the knock-out stages last year also as they ended up at the bottom of the table in their respective group as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and Olympique Marseille qualified. It does not easy this year also as
many expect the likes of Real Madrid and big-spending Manchester City to go through.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Zorc claimed that his side has won the German Bundesliga two times in two years which shows that the team certainly has quality. He admitted that reaching the next round is the club’s dream, but it will never be an easy
task considering the competition involved.
The chief has stressed on the importance of a good start to the European campaign and is targeting a win in the opening game against Ajax.
“We are German champions, so we of course want to go through. But it doesn't help now that we have Real Madrid and Manchester City. We need to make a good start and beat Ajax at home,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The sporting director is satisfied with the transfer activity by the club this summer and has admitted that the club has quality in every position despite the departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364. He added that the likes of Hamburg and Schalke
have also made some good additions in the form of Rafael Van der Vaart and Ibrahim Afellay which is good for the league.
“I am absolutely happy with our squad. When I see Rafael Van der Vaart and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ibrahim-Afellay-c16547 join Schalke, I am of course a bit jealous. But we have attacking midfielders, and we saw no need to add to the squad,” he concluded.
BVB will next take on Bayer Leverkusen at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, September 15.
