Kirk Edwards, who became the 13th West Indies batsman to score a century on a debut, was a bit disappointed after losing his wicket at 110 runs, but hoped that the hosts can still make a comeback in the game.
While talking to the media reporters after Day four’s stumps at Roseau, the right-handed top order batsman conceded that his side is at a difficult stage; however, he was hopeful the hosts would fight back.
"It's mixed feelings right now. We are behind the eight-ball. So If I had hung in there and we were on top of the game, I would have liked to go and have a beer. Now it's still at a difficult stage,” admitted the centurion while talking
to the media reporters.
"We can still make a game out of this. We have lots of fighting characters. I am a fighter. We will fight," he declared.
The 26-year-old right-handed batsman from Barbados played a pain-staking 110-run innings off 195 balls, plundering nine boundaries and a six as well.
While trailing India’s 143-run first innings’ lead, the hosts were struggling at 40 for 3 before Edwards and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Chanderpaul-c2390 buckled down 161 runs as the hosts battled to evade defeat in the third Test.
He said that it was a great feeling to have the 133-Test veteran with him at the crease.
"Obviously it's a great feeling to have a guy like Shiv with you at the crease," said Edwards. "It was a pleasure playing an innings today with Shiv."
When asked whether he was nervous while playing under such pressure on his debut, Edward said that he was not nervous as he knew he had his work cut out so he just stuck to the task.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mahendra-Singh-Dhoni-c73820 and his men currently hold a stronger position in the ongoing Roseau Test as the hosts have a lead of 81 runs with only four wickets remaining.
If the strong Indian attack managed to penetrate into the West Indies’ lower order to roll over the hosts in the first half of the day, one can anticipate an easy win for the visitors with a world class batting line-up.
