The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 attacker has stressed that he has yet to reach his full potential, while insisting that the best years of any footballer are in the mid 20’s to early 30’s.
Ajax Amsterdam forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Babel-c31971, has struggled to showcase his class that he showed during his youth days. Since making his debut in the 2004/05 season at Amsterdam Arena, the Dutchman has played more than 200 league games, but only managed to find the back of the net on 31 occasions.
During a recent interview to FIFA, the 25-year-old has insisted that not everyone can achieve http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296’s records at such age.
The Argentinean international, who made his debut at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in the 2004/05 campaign at Barcelona, has thus far played over 300 games, and has netted an impressive 263 goals while setting up 105 more.
“A footballer mostly has his best years between 25 and 29 so I don't think I have shown my full potential yet. We can’t all be Lionel Messi, even if we want to”, Babel was quoted as saying to FIFA.com.
The Dutch forward went on to reveal that his ambition was to play as an orthodox striker, but has admitted that playing at the left flank suits him the best.
“I’ve played a number of positions up front but my best position now is the left. I always had the ambition to play as a striker, as I grew up like that in the youth academy of Ajax”, Babel added.
The 25-year-old Dutch forward left the Amsterdam giants in the summer of 2007 to join Liverpool, and moved to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/TSG-1899-Hoffenheim-c40767 after plying his trade at Anfield for three-and-a-half season.
The attacker has admitted that he enjoyed his time in the German top flight, but has stressed that he enjoyed more while playing in the English Premier League.
“I enjoyed my time in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 playing for Liverpool. Playing at Anfield is a different experience. The best Anfield games were the Champions League evenings”, Babel concluded.
The promising attacker has made a bright start to the 2012/13 campaign while wearing the Amsterdammers colours.
