It starts to turn (it goes to the "hp invent" page) but then it just goes black. We turned it off, but then when we went to turn it on again, it didn't. I can hear the fan and the power button, stop, play, sound, and all those other buttons are still lit blue. I don't know how to get it to turn on. I really don't want to pay for it to go in to the shop, someone PLEASE help us. Suggestions would be AWESOME! :] Thanxs

  1. If you are on VISTA you can insert the CD/DVD Windows asked you to create before going any further with your laptop the first time you turn it on, with that it'll run a kind of troubleshooting and I think it'll copy the files that are missing in windows, If you're in XP you should insert the CD/DVD that came with your laptop and follow the instructions.

  2. I had the same problem with my hp dv6000 laptop a few days ago... I took it to a computer specialist on campus at my college and they said it was a problem with the motherboard and I should take it to a computer center in town to see how much it would cost to fix it. If I were you, I would call hp if your warranty is still active though!

  3. Only one piece of advice: call HP support right away (or email them). You have serious boot-up problems.

In the luckiest of situations, you can run a "repair" from the installation disk (Windows XP? Vista?). If unlucky, you buy a new hard drive and reinstall everything. Hope you had a backup.

Anyone believing in getting fee laptops also believes in the tooth fairy and the easter bunny.
