We did well after the loss at Galle, says Misbah ul Haq – Cricket News Update
Misbah ul Haq, the Pakistan Test captain, is delighted with his team’s performance after losing the first match at Galle and praised the performance of some of the younger players like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Ali-c46890.
The Green Shirts lost the series by 0-1, which happens to be their first defeat in the longer version of the sport under Misbah’s captaincy. Ironically, the middle-order batsman did not play the first Test, which remained http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s only loss of the series.
The recently concluded tour has not turned out to be a very good one for the Men in Green, who levelled the T20s, lost the One Day Internationals in a miserable manner and fell behind in the Test matches as well.
However, Pakistan team can take a lot of positives from the tour as some of the young guns took the responsibilities on their shoulders and performed out of their skins.
While expressing his views in the presentation ceremony, Pakistan’s captain said that the Galle Test was the only blemish for the team in the series and he was all praise for the young trio.
"After the first game, really happy with the way we performed. Azhar Ali and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shafiq-c89281 did really well, the way Adnan played with a broken finger, Junaid is a positive for us the way he bowled, we fought back after the first game. When you are not having a
regular keeper, it puts pressure on your bowlers also,” the captain said.
Azhar scored two centuries in the series, while Shafiq achieved one. However, Junaid must be the biggest positive of the series for the Green Shirts, who picked up two five-wicket hauls on flat tracks.
The seasoned campaigner further added that Pallekele’s track was helpful to the seam bowlers initially but flattened out in the later stages of the match.
Misbah added, “The pitch was live for first two days and after that it was really flat, nothing on it, if it would have been a five-day match, we could have had a result. We were behind in the first game, it cost us the series."
