The only Developmental Pediatrician within 100 miles ONLY takes Medicaid, and my husband's income is above the guidelines. How do I get him help? Our family doctor has said that he doesn't feel he has the qualifications to treat our son, but now I don't know what else to do.

We couldn't find a way to get him speech therapy, either... that place doesn't participate with any insurance, they do take Medicaid, but we would have to pay $400 for the initial consult out of our pocket, which we simply cannot afford.

I almost feel like my husband should quit his job and go to work at McDonald's, it seems like we're being penalized because he has a good job!

  1. I don't know what state you are in but some states don't have an income guideline for qualifying 'disabilities'  also the chip program in some states no longer have income guide lines.  here is the number for the chip program in pennsylvania.  I don't know if they can give you guidance or not.  18004149025.  apply for med assistance.  there should b an area that ask about med or mental conditions  make sure to put your childs consition there and your denied, appeal.  appeal as many times as you have to.  we have to be dilligent when it comes to our children.  believe me I know...been there done that
