We don’t have to look at Manchester United: Carlo Ancelotti
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that his club will not worry about Premier League leaders Manchester United’s progress, and will concentrate on their own bid to retain the league title this season.
Manchester United are leading the Premier League table with 38 points to their credit out of 18 league games. Chelsea, meanwhile, are currently placed fourth in the league table with 34 points to their name out of 19 league games.
"We don't have to look at United," said Ancelotti. "This is a very difficult championship because every game can have a difficulty. It's a Premier League with a lot of balance, so nothing is decided now."
Chelsea won their last match against Bolton Wanderers 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. The Blues’ http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838 scored the only goal of the match. The win over the Wanderers ended Chelsea’s poor form, and also eased the growing pressure on Carlo Ancelotti. Moreover,
it was also Chelsea’s first win in over seven Premier League matches.
Despite getting all three points in the last match, the Chelsea manager insisted the pressure is not off and his team must continue their hard work over the coming weeks.
"It's a hard period," he said. "That's normal. It was a very difficult period. We have to keep going now. We have to maintain good focus on our training and on our games."
It has also been reported that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is prepared to back Ancelotti in the January transfer window as the Blues look to improve the depth of their squad, with new centre-halves the priority. Chelsea’s Brazilian centre-half Alex is injured
and will be out of action until February. Ancelotti will also be without the service of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Branislav-Ivanovic-c7994 in the next match, who has been suspended after getting a yellow card in his final match before the mid-season yellow card amnesty.
Despite having limited defence options, Ancelotti insists he is in no rush to spend his Abramovich’s cash. "We didn't speak about this but we have one month," he said. "[If] we need to have some players, I said a lot of times that
