The Kiwis lost the second T20 by a margin of 61 runs, ending up being whitewashed in the series. The Black Caps’ regular skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/LRPL-Taylor-c1849, was ruled out of the match because of a shoulder injury, requiring Williamson to lead the team.
The Caribbean men batted first and posted a huge total of 177 runs on the board for the loss of only five wickets. Chasing the score in their bid to square the series, the Kiwis failed to cope with the threat posed by the mystery spinner, Narine, who picked
up four wickets after giving away merely 12 runs in his four overs.
The off-spinner from Trinidad and Tobago was named as the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.
Williamson expressed that the youngster outclassed the New Zealand batsmen but claims that his team will play Narine better in the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series, which will start from Thursday at Jamaica.
The stand-in captain said, "I think we saw a lot of him in the IPL and obviously he performed very well and guys found him hard to pick. Moving into the one-dayers, we'll obviously look to play him slightly differently being a longer format and hopefully
have a slightly better method towards him."
Narine on the other hand, is delighted with his team’s showing in the series and wished to carry on with the same momentum in the five ODIs as well. West Indies look a much better team as compared to their counterparts but the mystery spinner, is still not
ready to take New Zealand lightly and warned his teammates against complacency.
"We have set a good tone starting off winning the first two Twenty20s, but 50-overs is a different format so we have to concentrate a little longer," Narine said. "I think we have the capability and the strength in our team to do that."
