I received a letter from IRS indicating that I should receive the rebate check by 6/6/08. Since my husband died couple months ago I guess this may cause the problem of receiving the rebate check...Who should I contact to fix the problem??

Thanks

  1. Sorry for your loss.

His dying shouldn't hold up your rebate check.  Contact the IRS to see if it was mailed as scheduled.

  2. first up the IRS is trying to sort out your husbands taxes,  from yours, I am so sorry about your lost, I know how you feel right now,the rebate check will come to you or go into your bank account automaticly be patient, I am wondering are you from the cherry hill area and in the knollwood section off chapel. good luck

  3. contact the irs you still get the check since you filed while he was alive and sorry for your lost

  4. I would like to extend my condolences for your loss.  But the death of your husband does not stop nor delay your economic stimulus rebate.  What could delay it might be:

-that you either filed another 2007 return to claim the rebate.

-you or your husband may have owed back some back taxes, child support, etc.

-the IRS is backed-up with tax returns since everyone in the USA is trying to file to claim the rebate, which means that your return might not be processed yet.

-or your address might be a problem.

Call 1-800-829-1040 and ask for the "rebate line".

  5. If your income exceeded 75K, I do not think you are entitled to a tax rebate.  Check with an accountant.  I am sure the Social Security Administration is seeking a return of the check for the month you loss your husband.  If that is the case, you should contact both a Social Security office and moderately competent accountant.  Your unfortunate situation falls outside the normal and usual.  A government employee would not be able to handle problem with multiple issues.  Hire an accountant and have the executor of your husband's estate to participate so the left hand knows what the right hand is doing.  Sorry for your loss.
