“We finished in last place. Figure it out,” says Miami Marlins' owner Jeffrey Loria
The Miami Marlins' owner Jeffrey Loria has recently attended baseball owners meeting and spoke openly about his deal with the Toronto Blue Jays.
“We finished in last place. Figure it out, Absolutely not, That's more stupidity. We have to get better, We can't finish in last place. We finished in last place. That's unacceptable. We have to take a new course. Wonderful guy. I love Jose Reyes, What's not to love?" Loria told the media in detail about his recent deal.
“Everybody in the world wants to talk about the Marlins and the fact they're now a Triple-A team, The Marlins have lost pretty much all credibility with fans. Even if this trade is a positive move from a baseball standpoint, it won't be viewed by the general public as a positive move," said city commissioner Marc Sarnoff, on this deal.
This blockbuster deal surprised many but at the same time the Marlins' fans are still not happy. In their view, this deal will not give any stability to the Marlins.
In this deal, Marlins lost Jose Reyes and Mark Buehrle who were the main players last year when Ozzie Guillen took the franchise’s reigns.
The Blue Jays however, are pleased with this recent deal. They struggled to keep up the pace last season and now they feel like a complete team.
With a world class pitcher and a talented shortstop certainly will make things more competitive for the Blue Jays in the coming years.
Mark Buehrle, playing most of his Major League career in Chicago White Sox, made his way into the Miami Marlins in 2012 and played in the past season and performed with consistency.
He proved his game by achieving 3.74 ERA along with 13-13 win-loss, 125 strike-outs and 1.17 WHIP. Though it was a good performance but still Miami had better things in mind for Buehrle’s future as they traded him to the Blue Jays.
On the other hand, Reyes also had a good season with a hitting average of .287 along with eleven homers, 57 strike-outs and .347 OBP.
