I not sure if this has anything to do with it but for the past 3 years of her life she has always been very light (for her weight) and we were told that since she was the runt of the litter she was going to get as big as the other ones. (she eats and drink well) So just recently we had noticed that as we picked her up she felt heavier and my first thought OMG she did managed to go outside I hope she not pregnant. I wonder do you think that it's worms inside of her that is causing this extra weight. She has always been real quite (she has never really meowed) . she not been very active either behave more like an older cat. but once again we were told that she is like that because she was the runt. But because of her being the runt and all the little things that ppl called wrong with her we loved her even more. (her momma didn't cared for her). So now my little girl is so scared that she is going to die, so if there is any one out there who could help. PLEASE HELP !!! I can't afford to take the cat "Bullet" to the vet.

  1. Front Line Worm Medicine in the UK

  2. ask a vet

  3. why did you get a cat in the first place if you can't afford to get it properly treated?

  4. You need to get a worming treatment for her. An adult cat should be wormed every 6 months

  5. What you found was a tape worm. They resemble grains of rice. Tape worms are very very long, living in the intestine and break off in segments, like you observed, when leaving the r****m.

Tape worm is caused by ingesting flea eggs when she is grooming herself. Don't worry, you won't get them.

The bloating may be from the intestinal distress caused by the worms. Only vet products will kill the worm and the eggs, so your cat will need to be seen by the vet. When you are their, get a vile of Advantage to keep fleas off of your pet and eliminating another infestation of tape worm.

Call the vet, and ask if you can pick up Droncet tablets. Some will not require that your cat be seen if your cat was seen there previously. These are prescribed according to weight. The tablets are no more than $5.00 each and the low cost vet visit should be about $35.00 or less. If you have an ASPCA in your area with a clinic it will be the cheapest way to go. But she needs to be treated. Over the counter flea meds don't work and some are deadly.  Call around for the best treatment price.

  6. what we did when we found one on our cat is take them to tthe vet. they weigh them to et the rightamt of med (a pill) and then you give the cat the pill and you are done.  it is not a long process in the form of med, cause it sounds like tape worms. if it is a different type of worm then there is a liquid med that you give to them but it isnt much worse. hope that helps. they didnt even charge us for a vet visit cause they knew what type of worm it was when i described it to them, call them and ask they mightsuprise you. also of you tell them that you really cant pay right now, they will usually work with you.

  7. She could have worms, she could be pregnant, or both, if she is not spayed that's quite likely as she's at least 3 years old. Her quiet behaviour could be her personality. My cats are quiet. I know it's hard if you don't have much money but if you are worried about her health you must get her looked at. I know you don't want her to suffer. Also, if she is pregnant think about how much more that will cost. In the UK we have the Cats Protection who run a scheme to neuter cats. You do need help here. If you honestly can't afford vet's bills then you should let someone who can look after her. It's the kindest most responsible way.

  8. HI... TAKE A STOOL SAMPLE WITH YOU AND TAKE YOUR CAT ALSO....YOU WILL SAVE TIME AND MONEY TAKING THE STOOL SAMPLE WIT YOU  AND THEY WILL CHECK IT WILL YOU WAIT.....THERE ARE SEVERAL TYPES OF WORMS THAT REQUIRE DIFFERANT TYPES OF  MEDICINE AND THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL FIND OUT IS THROUGH A VET....YOU WILL BE WAISTING YOUR  MONEY IF YOU START BUYING FROM STORES AND WILL COTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM  ..SO  CALL AND MAKE HER AND HAVE HER CHECKED..........GOOD LUCK

  9. Sounds like tapeworm. The most common way for a cat to get intestinal tape worms is from eating a FLEA (a host) that has eaten a tapeworm egg. The host animal has to be eaten.

The most common way for a cat to (or human) to get tapeworms is to ingest the host (flea that has ingested a tapeworm egg)... not just the egg. The flea eating the egg activates the egg... which then hatches in your cat's intestine after the cat ingests the flea. Tape worm eggs do not activate to become larvae until they are eaten by a host, and then that larvae must again be swallowed to become a tape in the end recipient

You will need a wormer from your vet to kill the tapeworms. I recommend Drontal from your vet or Tradewinds Tape Worm Tabs for Cats from Drs Foster and Smith. You will also need to treat your cat with a flea treatment. I recommend a Capstar pill to kill the fleas instantly and then Frontline Plus spot on to make sure your cat does not get infested again.

Do NOT use OTC wormers. They are not safe and can kill your cat. Not to mention they don't work very well. Wormer is a pesticide, so don’t be cheap when buying it. Do what is safe and buy from your vet or a trusted online pharmacy. Please Do not buy wormers from walmart.
