We found a spider and when we killed it it sprouted babies, why?

place moth balls throughout your house, they hate the smell. Put about half a box in the basement, and split the rest of what is left throughout the house, in closets and spaces that are not used frequently.

Spiders lay eggs, they don't give live birth.  The spider must have been a wolf spider, they carry their hatched babies underneath them on their stomachs.  They don't stay in a web so this why they have them where they do.

That happened to me once, when I killed a spider with a tissue a bunch of baby spiders came running out all over my hands......Kind of freaked me out cause I was not expecting it.

I figured out later that spiders hitch rides on their mothers back........

You can use ''Raid" on them.....

errrrr! because it was pregnant!.

most (if not all) spiders will not generally attack humans if left unprovoked-they are quite happy to sit there staring at you while waiting for their next meal to come walking/flying along.

you can pick up most species of spider and come to no harm-although this is not advisable with the likes of the black widow/hobo/funnel web/and banana spiders-these spiders and others of their ilk can inflict a nasty bite which can in some cases be deadly-but once again if you don't interfere with them they will leave you alone.

you can buy a device that plugs into your mains supply this turn the wiring of your home into a massive pest deterrent device-and this includes spiders. (the machines name escapes me for the moment sorry).
