i know they are endangered now, but its not also not cool to release them because they have domesticated germs that will kill the wild tortoises. My Question: Does anyone have one they need someone to adopt?? Or, do you know of a place where they can be adopted?? Thanks

  5. currently you need a permit to have a desert tortoise. The state can take away the one you have if you do not already have your permit. Under federal and state laws it is illegal to buy, sell, take or harm desert tortoises in California, or to move them out of the State. But you can put in an adoption application form with The California Turtle and Tortoise Club and possible see if you quilify to adopt one. http://www.tortoise.org/cttc/adoption.ht...
