  1. wood tends to swell with heat/cold so it may go back but if not is it glued down? It is also bad to wash your floor with amop as it's too damp and damp can buckle the wood.

  2. The problem suggest that the floor underneath has some dampness in it - sadly I do not think there is any solution that could be applied to the surface.

  3. Here is a list of the possible reasons with the correct answer to the questions. If you give any other answer then this could be the contributing cause of your problem...

Was a plastic membrane laid down first? Yes

Was an insulation material laid on top of the membrane? Yes

Was a gap left all the way around the perimeter of the new laminate floor to allow for expansion? Yes

Is the flooring in a room subject to high humidity or in direct contact with fluids which includes being cleaned with a mop? No

I have known it where an appliance has developed

a slow water leak and trickled down and under the flooring.which resulted in the boards expanding and lifting.

  4. There are two main reason why you floor might be lifting...

Wetness/Damp - so if your house suffers damp, or if you use a mop to clean the floor then this will cause the wood to swell. The only problem i'm having with this being the cause is that less than a year doesn't really sound like long enough.

Poor installation - i don't know whether you had it professionally installed or if it was DIY, but the wood is expect to swell, so you are supposed to leave at least 1 cm gap on all sides and then hide it with the skirting board. If this wasn't done, then the expected swelling is forcing it against the wall and lifting it. It isn't supposed to be installed to a snug fit.

I suggest you check to make sure you left a gap and if not get the guy who fitted it to fix it, but if you did it yourself... i dunno if you can trim it...

If you did leave a gap - you are better of getting in someone to check you don't have damp... the foundations of your home could be vulnerable and this could be an early warning.

  5. your laminate is "butting" up, you have a slight damp problem in your house.did you put down a plastic sheet and then insulative sheet first?

  6. Get the fitters back to your home, all works carried out by reputable flooring firms should carry a 1 year guarantee at least.

Call the fitters & explain what's happened, they should come out & at least try to rectify the problem, if only as a gesture of good will.

    Good Luck.X :-)

  7. Most probably it is humidity frm underneath the floor or you dont have any expansion space, but I would blame the homidity allow air to escape from underneath the flooring
