The "fruit" was an osage orange, often called a monkey ball (I dont know why) they produce a whitish glue when cut open and, if placed in your house, keep ants and spiders away... hope that helps

my friend says that's a horse apple. what's your question? i've seen those before, when i was in elementary we had this space thing and they stuck some of those in a box and told us they were alien brains.  it's creepy. they tell us all this scary stuff then tell us later that aliens don't exist! what's wrong with the world!!!!???

Yes some people call this a Horse Apple.  It is also known as an Osage Orange, Hedge Apple, and Bois 'd arc.
