  1. When my cat had kittens I didn't take away the male (also the father) everything was fine, he didn't hurt the kittens or anything, I don't think it is needed.

The mother is tprolly trying to find a nice spot for the kittens or is trying to protect them, my cat carried the kittens around until my husband left the cloest door open and she made a bed in some old towls, after that she didn't move them around at all.

  2. Well congratulations.

Yep, keep the males away, only because it is known (not all cases) that the males may kill the new borns, not sure why though.

It carries it's young around as she feels it is not safe to leave, did the mother only have 1 Kitten?

I would just phone and check with the vets to be sure.

    Good Luck

    Minny :-)

  3. I foster kittens and have done hundreds of them in the past ten years.  The select couple that I have included in my family are males and will only be male because I feel they are generally more friendly and we get along better.  Anyway my point is my two males are wonderful foster "uncles" and love any baby I bring home.  They clean them and everything.  It does not have anything to do with the s*x, it is the temperament of your cat.  Some cats will NEVER accept another cat regardless of the s*x.  What ever happened to spaying and neutering.  I wouldn't have so many many strays to foster if everyone realized how big a difference spaying and neutering does!!

  4. no it will be perfectly fine for the male to see the female he will play with it .and clean it if your lucky.normally if a cat moves its kitten around it means it doesn't feel safe with its kitten where it is maybe if you touch the kitten a lot it might not like it,if not just let her put her kittens where she wants and she will feel safe there .remember to give her extra food when she has kittens .because my friend made that mistake and the cats milk dried up and the kittens died ,anyway.goodluck.

  5. Keeping the male cat away would depend on his personality. Most people take him away as they say that a male will kill the kittens so that the female will go back into heat. Because a female will not go into heat while nursing. However once the kittens have been weaned. She will go back into heat. May be a Good idea to get her fixed after this litter.

She carries her kitten around because she is looking for a safe place to keep it. Or it may be that she's being very over protective of the kitten. But usually she will carry the kitten around until she finds a place that she feels is safe for the kitten.

Good luck with her and the new family member.

  6. yes keep them away, and get them neutered and make an appointment for the female in about 6 weeks to have her spayed.  the kittens can be spayed/ neutered when they are 2 pounds.  make sure that you don't take the kittens away from the mother till the minimum of 8 weeks but best to wait till they are 12 weeks.

  7. Best to keep the male away.  And, now would be a good time to call your vet and schedule an appointment to have your Mom cat spayed.  If you boy has not been neutered, then send him too!

    Good Luck!

  8. In the wild, the father cat naturally leaves the mother. So to answer your question: If the male and female cat have been in your house for a long time or have  known each other for a long time, there is a chance that the father cat will stick around. I know your thinking, "Well they are both in the same house!" but the father cat may choose to leave the mother alone. If he wants to stick around and see the mother and the kittens he may. All I'm saying is you as a person don't have to do anything. Whatever in their nature happens will happen and it doesn't have to be controlled unless you see that the father is somehow abusing the kittens or the mother. Hope this helps you! Oh, and as soon as the kittens stop nursing take the parents to be spayed and neutered! It'll be a dangerous life for them if you don't.

  9. i would then one at a time show him his babies but dont put them down keep them safe
