  1. We have a huge boat and if the Coast Guard catches you with something that's amiss on a boat like that, they may cite you for unsafe equipment.  Take my word for it, go replace it.  And, no, aluminum does not take bending well.

  2. aluminum cannot take bending well. everytime you bend it you weaken it.

  3. How badly bent is it?  Bent toe rails can and do get straightened whenever the bend is not too bad and the budget doesn't allow for getting a new one.

That being said, straightening the aluminum will weaken it, but it is just a toe rail, it is not structural.  Of course when it got bent the first time (damaged) it lost some strength.

Do it and see what happens, what have you got to lose?

  4. I've had to do this precise job actually. They can be bent back but its a skilled job. The aluminium stretches when you bend it so you essentially need to shrink it to unbend it.

You can remove a foot of the toe rail. Cut it out tapering each end by 45 degrees. its recommended that you remove the toerail for this job. Then replace the section with a fresh one.

This doesn't work well up the bow where there is a sharper bend, in this case a larger section will be required to count for the bend.
