We have a dead animal under our house and it is smelling through our vents. Will this make us sick?

will this make anyone sick in our family. We can't get to it to remove it so it smells through our vents.

It wont make you sick... it will just start to smell REALLY badly. If you do decide to get it out make sure you use gloves then wash becuase the germs from touching it will get you sick.

it will just smell nasty, i doubt it could hurt you... but it possibly could. I would advice calling someone, like maybe an animal center or something to get it out. I doubt you will be able to stand the smell for long!

UGH! Yea get rid of that, some parasites can be transmitted via the air. You could contract whatever killed the animal.

If it is smelling through your vents, the dead animal could be in your airconditioning or in your duct work. This happened to me with mice. If it is just under your house, the smell will eventually go away. If it is in your airconditioning or duct work, sterilization by a professional is the best method to get rid of the odor and the bacteria blowing through your vents.

It may you have to remember flys and other bugs in the decaying whatever may get into the house. We have had a mouse to die in a wall and the smell alone caused us to tear the wall out, especialy in the summer.Maybe you can call a contractor to find out how to get to it with out destroying your home, it got under there some how. Good Luck.
