We have a new hoover

Question

We have a new hoover bagless that is a couple months old. The pet hair attachment stopped working. I disassembled it found lots of hair wound around the various rollers and removed - painstakingly thorough i might add. Problem is the brush still wont spin and now the belt seems loose - I think I put it all back together correctly but wondering if there is a trick to this?
