We have a samsung tv with pioneer surround wont play xbox thro surround only front speakers?

we have set up the tv and surround but it wont play xbox or skythro surround only 2 front speakers

well instead of connecting ONLY audio cables from xbox to tv, plug in xbox to audio receiver (note down what input u plug into usually says on back where ports r) thats wat i did i hav bose surround sound and u no how 360 has blue green and red stuff and bose doesn't i had to but special cable so it matched the whit and red of regular rca audio cable still works
