We have a tornado watch in effect?

Currently it's 86F and we have a tornado watch in effect. But it's. So I have a question is a watch worse than a warning? Because I thought a warning was worse. Also, I'm scared.

a watch means conditions are good enough for a tornado to occur. A warning means a tornado touched the ground and is heading towards your county/area of where you live.so yes, a warning is worse then a watch

produce a tornado. It doesn't mean there is one on the ground. A warning means that one has been spotted on the ground and to take shelter as soon as possible. A warning is much more serious

than a watch.

A Tornado watch is issued when the Storm prediction center has a strong feeling a Tornado could happen in that area. I watch just means to keep eyes to the sky and do your normal things you do and just be alert for possible warnings later on. a Tornado Warning is issued when a Tornado has been seen or dopper radar has picked up roation in the thunderstorm that could produce a tornado.

If it was me - I'd just go outside and watch. But I'm a little crazy anyways. Too many deployments do that to some people. If you're that scared get out of the area until the watch is over.

A watch is an advisory, telling you to keep alert, there could be something brewing out there, watches are given by the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, warning are given by each individual NWS site it the city that the storm is impacting. When a warning is given it means that either storm spotters have observed a tornado or funnel cloud, or is Doppler indicated. This is the time to take cove immediately.

a watch is NOT as severe as a warning. just be careful. stay inside, stay safe. if you have a safe room, go to it when they tell you to. be safe.

When a tornado warning is issued that means doppler radar has detected rotation in a storm or trained spotters have spotted a rotating wall cloud, funnel cloud, or a tornado on the ground.

If a tornado warning is issued for your area, do not panic. Go to a place of safety. Go to the lowest floor of your house like the basement. Once in the basement get under a sturdy piece of furniture or go into a bathroom in the basement. If no basement is available go in to an interior room such as a closet. If that is not available go in to an bathroom without windows. Stay away from outside walls and windows. Cover your head to protect from flying debris. Never try to out run a tornado in a car, if cought in a car and can not take no place of safety, lay down in a ditch and cover your head. Do not take cover under a over pass. Do not stay in mobile homes as they do not offer protection and can be flown as easily as cars can.

a watch is worse than a warning because that means it could hit ANYWHERE - including your house - which fills you full of unhealthy anxiety.

A warning is better than a watch AS LONG AS THE WARNING IS SOMEPLACE ELSE....if it is near your house...it's a LOT worse than a watch becuase your anxiety becomes terror as the tornado winds its way towards your place.....

I was always able to tell a watch from a warning like this.  A watch is when the weather people are watching the storm develope.  A warning is when the weather people are warning you to take cover.
