Giuseppe Marotta, the director at the Bianconeri outfit, has gone on to state his belief that having a well drilled team, is preferred over a single good player.
After winning the Scudetto in the 2011-12 season, Beppe Marotta had vowed to sign a world class striker to the mix at Juventus. The Bianconeri outfit were linked to various big names throughout the course of the summer transfer window; however, much to the
dismay of all the fans of the Turin outfit the links just proved to be links, with nothing concrete surfacing in the match.
Marotta had expressed an interest in many strikers and there were a lot of players on the radar for Juventus. The most closely monitored strikers were of Napoli, Arsenal, Manchester United and Fiorentina. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edinson-Cavani-c11955 was regularly linked with a move away
from the Vesuviani outfit and there were rumours indicating that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 had rejected bids made by Juve. However, after further interest in the player, the Neapolitan outfit tied him down to a new contract.
The case of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 was slightly different and the Turin outfit were rumoured to be willing to pay around 7.5 million Euros for the player, effectively making him the highest paid player in the Turin side. However, a more lucrative offer came from
Manchester United, which Van Persie accepted. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254 of the Red Devils were linked with the club as well, and the club were in advanced talks with the players.
However, nothing concrete materialised and Juventus had to make do with no big signings in the summer. Rumours suggested that the Turin outfit were unable to finance money for the heavily paid strikers in the world.
Beppe Marotta commented that the team performs well as a unit, and not based on individuals, and he went on to remark:
“I always hear people talk about a top player, but here we need to speak about a top team. The team unit is our true strength. The statistics enable us to make a full analysis and confirm that we have a winning model.”
Juve finally signed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 on a loan deal.
