Will our reception be any better with HTV signals coming in through our antena and a converter box? I would like to know what to expect.

  1. In my experience, picture quality will be vastly improved. The new digital tuners are amazing at bringing in even weak signals. Old analog tuners have seen no development for decades, whereas a lot of work went into improvements in tuner technology for DTV.

The only exception would be if you are in a fringe reception area, say over 60 miles from the towers. Then your once snowy picture may disappear completely or break into blocks.

That said, I live 65 miles from the Sacramento, CA towers and get perfect reception. But I'm on a hill with a 10 foot long antenna on the roof.

  2. Digital picture is MUCH better than your old analog signal as it is either perfect or not there at all. Analog can lose strength which displays as snow, lines, static etc. With digital if the picture is there it is PERFECT.

You will also pick up additional sub channels of channels you already get adding to your off air channel lineup!

  3. It could be better or it could it worse. If you have sufficient reception, picture in sound will be perfect. If you don't have a strong enough signal, instead of a snowy picture the channel will go in and out or might not tune at all.
