We have an se445 cordless

We have an se445 cordless phone/answerphone. with answerphone on, the line rings 4 times then stops briefly before continuing to ring instead of cutting onto answerphone. BT line has been checked and gain increased but no joy. Broadband & SKYbox works fine.Thanks
