Question:

We have been having a bird 1/2 the size of a hummingbird with antennas on our flowers in the late evening.

1 1/2 inches high with long beak like hummingbird only it has two antennas with balls at the ends. comes in late evening and hovers like a hummingbird also. we also have hummingbird feeders next to the hanging pots but it never goes to them.

  4. It's a hummingbird Moth. I saw one this evening. It does really look a lot like a hummingbird, since you pointed it out. And no, it's not going to go for the hummingbird feeder, only flowers.

    Though the one I saw earlier was trying to get in the back French doors. At first glance I thought it was a small bat. =)

  5. That's a hummingbird moth. You can find pictures and more info at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummingbird... -- they look and act very much like hummingbirds and are often mistaken for them, but they are actually insects, hence the antennae and sub-nocturnal tendencies. How neat is that?
