Fit-again Australia all-rounder, Shane Watson, is optimistic about his side’s chances in the latest edition of the World T20 Championship, commencing in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 from September 18, 2012.
While speaking to media reporters on Tuesday, the Queensland-born top-order batsman said that Australia’s World T20 squad incorporates a diverse mix of youth and experience and is capable of defeating any opposition on its day.
“This team has got good balance of young and experience and on our day we can beat the best teams in the world,” said Watson during a media encounter ahead of three-match T20 series against Pakistan.
The mighty Aussies, who clinched the ODI world cup trophy thrice and ruled the perch of Test cricket for years, are yet to impress in the shortest format of the game. They are currently ranked ninth in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045.
They have not played a T20 International since March this year. Of their four T20Is played so far this year, the Kangaroos have won two. In their last 10 T20 Internationals, the Kangaroos have won four matches and lost six.
They boast a mixed record in the T20 World Cup, where they reached the semi-finals in the inaugural edition in 2007, before facing a group stage exit in the 2009 World T20, in England. “We’ve played well in Twenty20 and were unlucky on missing out on the final the last time,” said the Queenslander.
