  1. Horse Chestnut grow to a huge size so I hope you have garden of at least two acres and the tree is at the far end of your patch The tree may produce fruit when it is mature , in about 20 years. You may find that the best place for the tree is your local park or on the edge of woodland make sure you have permission from the park supervisor or land owner before you plant it.

  2. Hope you are patient , the first few years are very slow in hardwood trees , for a big conker it could be 20 years

  3. A tree grown from seed may take twenty years or more before it bears fruits, but a grafted species such as "Marron de Lyon" or "Paragon" may start production within five years of being planted. Both the latter species bear fruits with a single large kernel, rather than an average of two to four smaller kernels

  4. I've done this. grew it in a pot until it was about 1 foot high then planted it out. Started getting conkers when it was approx 10 foot high which I think was about 6 to 8 years after planting the 1 foot tree. Might depend on how much sun it gets.

Count the leafs each year - you'll soon lose count after a few years

    PS It will grow big.....

  5. I planted a conker from the the great storm of 87 and it hasn't done anything yet.
