De Villiers admitted his team’s performance was disappointing at the World T20, and apologized to the South African fans back home for letting them down with a poor show.
“Disappointed isn't the word to describe it, we've had a poor tournament,” said de Villiers at the post-match presentation ceremony, after the narrow one-run defeat at the hands of India.
“We've let the country down and that's what hurts the most. We did all the preparation possible, we thought we were ready but the guys didn't click,” he added further.
De Villiers’ Indian counterpart Mahindra Singh Dhoni was once again unhappy with the weather gods and blamed the drizzle during their match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 for his side’s early exit.
“We all know what impact rain has on bowlers, especially the spinners. So let us get practical about what the reason was and ask whether it was the real fault of the players,” said the Indian skipper.
“It’s not it can happen in this format. When you are at a stage where other games involving other teams can affect you, you don't want that kind of situation,” Dhoni concluded.
