Can you tell me if the 2 metals mixed cause a corrosion? Underneath the aluminum plate has started to create a white substance, which i dont know if it is calcium or if it is corrosion. Also, if you have any ideas on how to fix this problem, that would be great. The aluminum and stainless parts are sitting in a shallow pool with chlorine.

  1. The chlorine will eat away at the aluminum. The stainless steel should be OK. Probably could clean the corrosion with baking soda. Pressure washer will work too.

  2. Only stainless steel should be exposed to the water.

In a coastal environment, stainless steel will stain

    or  "rust" too.

We only use the totally resin slides these days.

To remedy your current problem, remove the slide,

have it powder coated at an auto body shop or fence company.

  3. even a hardy metal like stainless steel can corrode right at the water line in a high chlorine environment such as a hotel spa...perhaps coating the aluminum tubing in some sort of epoxy resin will help...I have seen that done on commercial spa railings..
