Female kitten but not sure about: What jabs she will need and when (she is 10 weeks at the moment)- also is it safe to put a flea collar on her or does she need a normal collar at this age.She is still house bound whilst she gets used to surroundings and is eating and using litter well.Any further advice would be appreciated. Thanks

  1. i suggest you take her to a vet as soon as possible !!!!

poor thing who knows whats shes been through ???

get her properly checked out and keep her happy !!!!

you should put a flea coller on her but be CAREFULL it not too tight !!!

Ask a vet what you should do !!!

  2. If I don't know how to deal with a bad dog, I just put it down and get a new one. You should probably do the same, it's a lot easier.

  3. Kittens usually get their first vaccination at 8 weeks old; typically the FVRCP (feline distemper combination), and possibly feline leukemia but only if the cat is expected to go outside.  In the US a kitten has to be 12 weeks old to get a rabies vaccination; it might be different in the UK.

Some flea collars can be used on kittens that age; others cannot or should not.  Check the package or ask your vet if unsure.  Personally I'd use Advantage rather than a collar; that or something equivalent should be available where you are.

As with all such things, your vet is the best person to speak with.  Frankly I'm surprised the rescue didn't discuss more of this before letting the kitten go.

  4. I is a huge responsibility to adopt a kitten, rescued kitties I have found are extremely loyal and loving.  Seems to me they know how lucky they are.  Rescue kitties usually have paperwork.  Read it carefully, there may be something that you agreed to like keeping her indoors, spaying her to get a  your deposit back, not declawing her. The shelter more than likely gave her shots, at least the first set.  They should have told you what she was eating but usually it is kitten chow..Some people prefer to switch to a high end food this is something you should discuss with your vet.  Sadly even the best foods were not exempt from the pet food crisis last year.  I personally use a blend based on the manufactures.  I try to prevent getting them from the same distribution centers.  One that I use is Halo and another is Innova.  Both of these manufactures have made promises to scrutinize all ingredients in their products and monitor all the processes.

  5. She should not really need a flea collar( I prefer the drops for the back of the neck....Bio spot or Frontline)

Definately have some sort of old rug or "scratching" post because kittens like to sharpen their claws. They will use your furniture if they have to.As far as food,I give mine dry food only.Good luck!

Oh,If you put her outside she will need a collar and ID tag.
