  1. you probably pushed you're sound card out of position try looking at it and if its in right

  2. Make sure your Sound Driver isn't disabled, it may have inadvertently disabled itself during shutdown:

Go to Device Manager (Start> RightClick My Computer> Properties> Hardware Tab> Device Manager) and right click on your sound driver and choose enable.

If you don't know the name of you Sound Driver, so to Start> Run> dxdiag. Now go to the Sound Tab and any sound hardware installed is listed.

If that still doesn't work, the driver may have been uninstalled. If so, go to your computer's manufacturer's website and go to the "Support" section. There should be a link for drivers. You will need to know your computer's model, but once you enter that it will give you and option to download any missing drivers. Just find the Sound Driver and install it.

    Hope that helps =]

  3. You may need to install drivers to get it to work,

#1 Are the speakers plugged in to the right hole? there are usualy 3+ places you can plug the jack into.

#2 Are your speakers actually working? Plug them into a MP3 player to check.

#3 Did you accidentally mute the sound in Windows?

#4 New hard drive is a replacement for old hard drive or just aditional one? Did you reinstall windows?

#5 Right Click "My Computer" select "Properties". Now select "Hardware" and finally "Device Manger" Any red or yellow "!" or "?". Anything listed under "Sound, video, and game controllers"?

  4. You didn't mention what type of computer or what OS, so I'm guessing a PC with some recent version of Windows. Have you checked all the settings in control panel->sounds? Is it possible you disconnected a cable when you installed the new HD? Is it possible your speakers got disconnected (and/or possibly reconnected incorrectly -- sometimes speaker systems include 3-4 minijacks that plug into a sound card with 4-6 minijack ports, and it's not always obvious which one plugs in where.) If these three things check out, the following tip is a bit advanced, but DirectX (part of Windows) includes some good diagnostics for sound. Search your C drive for dxdiag.exe and run that.

  5. go to control panel /System device drivers your sound driver could have a little yellow mark on it right click it from  menu choose update drivers

follow menu to allow it to go on net to find them and install them

    If it cannot find them

Download " PCwizard " and install it and run it will give you a list of hardware on your computer choose sound and write down name and number of driver and do a web search for it

    EG: c-media 2345 drivers

ensure you get the drivers for your O/S
