That if you don't introduce them correctly they WILL fight to the death!!!!! I made this mistake! I got a gerbil, and heard they liked to be with another one, so I got another and put them in together, left them alone for like an hour and came back in and they were both BLEEDING and one was limping!!! Then I found out more and read about how they will kill each other.

You have to do a split cage method (here's how: http://www.agsgerbils.org/Gerbil_Care_Ha... ) for like a week or two before you leave them together. Even then, it should only be for an hour or two and it should be supervised until you know you can trus them.
