England’s national selector http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Geoffrey-Miller-c58870 has said that they have picked up a balanced squad for the World T20, with a mix of youth and experience, and are looking forward to kick-starting their title defence, in Sri Lanka next month.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), on Tuesday named its final squad for the marquee T20 tournament. Eight players in the 15-man touring party were part of the squad that lifted the trophy in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in 2010.
“This is a very balanced squad combining experienced players with some exciting young talent who have done well at both international and domestic level this season and who are all very excited by the challenges ahead in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758,” said Miller after announcing
the final squad, which did not include likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806, courtesy “text saga”.
“We are very much looking forward to beginning the defence of our World T20 title next month,” the national selector added further.
Meanwhile, England have also named their 14-man squad for the NatWest ODI Series against South Africa. All the players in the squad were involved in the recent series win over Ashes rivals, Australia, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Miller-c76318 hoped the Alastair Cook led squad to emulate
that performance in the five-match ODI series against the Proteas, which gets underway at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on Friday, August 24.
“We’ll be looking for this side to build on the recent success we have had and to show further signs of improvement against a strong South Africa side,” said Miller.
The only player who was part of the team that played http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nottinghamshire-c826 pace bowler Stuart Broad, who has been given a two week break from cricket before leading the side in
the T20 World Cup.
