We have recently taken in a cat that had nowhere else to go, question about her living arrangement and our kid

Her name is Bad Cat, and as her previous owners explained, she has that name for a reason. We knew her while she was with them and she was a "bad cat." Since we have had her though she has been generally really docile. The only difference is that with us she is in our bedroom, which is NOT very large with NO OTHER cats (previous owners had 4 other cats), or humans but my husband and I. She has a litter box in there, food, water and a cat bed set aside in a closet so she can be alone when we are in there if she chooses. She woke me up this morning by rubbing her face all over mine and swishing her tail under my nose, which I guess is unheard of for her.

Is it wrong to let her stay in our room where she seems so happy, we have other cats that are not allowed in our room, so it really is like her domain. She never tries to get out, she just seems perfectly content. Would it be better to find her a different home or would it be ok to keep her with this arrangement?

  1. yes of course, poor kitty.

  2. kinda makes me wonder why you are keeping this cat? but i guess if its that-vs- spca then shes better off in your bedroom

I know that, in our house, this arrangement wouldn't work - because our bedroom door would not stay closed - mixing would occur.

But, if this is working & everyone seems happy & well-adjusted, I think it's fine.  For now, anyway. Certainly better than the alternative for her.

Keep your eyes open, though, for that person who's going to cross your path in the future.  The person who's going to make the perfect companion for this animal.  The person who's life will be forever altered for the better for having brought this animal into their lives.  Then pass her on to her forever home with joy!
