We have to take the blame – Tillakaratne Dilshan – Cricket News Update
Sri Lankan skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 but added that his team has shown the ability to bounce back after winning their first five-day game in over
a year.
With series tied one a piece, the Lankan http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 fell short in the deciding game at Cape Town as they were beaten by 10 wickets after an impressive all-round display from the hosts.
The main criticism hurled at the sub-continent team has been their inability to claim regular wickets. This has dealt a serious blow since the retirement of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Muralitharan-c1864, which saw the team claim only one win in the last year, which came in the second
Test bout against South Africa at Durban.
The skipper said that the team can take a lot of positives from the tour, one of which remains the ability of his bowling attack to claim 20 wickets.
"Before we came here, everyone thought we couldn't win a Test outside http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758. After Murali, people said we couldn't take 20 wickets," Dilshan said. "Now, everyone knows we can do both."
However, the deciding Test saw the Lankans endure a familiar fate when  the Proteas managed to put on a mammoth 580 on the board, with the main contributory being http://www.senore.com/Cricket/JH-Kallis-c1692, who made an imposing 224.
The tourists were never in command, bundling on 239 in their first innings while could only make 342 after being forced to follow on.  The Proteas were set just 2 to win, which was achieved in the final session of Day 4.
Despite winning the toss and electing to bowl, the Lankan bowlers could not stem the flow of runs which saw their opponents motor along at 4 runs per over. Dilshan admitted after the match that his side will have to take the blame after being in confident
mood, following the success they achieved at Durban.
“As a team, we have to take the blame," he said. "We didn't start well in Cape Town. Everyone came here with a lot of confidence. We had a good chance to draw the series but we haven't been bowling and batting consistently. We talked about a lot of things
but it didn't work."
